Who Can Use Our Services

Any individual who is seriously looking for work and is able to conduct a self-directed job search.

Note:  Because this is primarily a drop-in, self directed service, you will be expected to work independently.  If you cannot use our resources independently or are unable to meet your goals after a one month period, you may be referred to other services available within the Help Centre or in the community that can better meet your needs.

Computers

Are available for clients to type cover letters or resumes.  Clients must be familiar with the use of computers and the software available since we do not have staff available to train you in the use of our equipment.  If you need help with learning how to use the computers you should first attend other organizations in London that offer free training in this area.  There will be a counsellor available to provide you with more details as required.  Computers are available to clients by appointment or on a first come first serve basis.  Time may be reserved in advance and is allotted in 1 hour slots.  We currently have 6 Internet workstations running WordPerfect 9 and Microsoft Word.

Fax Machine

If necessary, (i.e. requested by a potential employer) clients may fax their resumes from the Agency.  For long distance calls within North America, clients may meet with a counsellor or supervisor.

Photocopier

Photocopying is available to our clients at no cost for the first 10 pages and $0.10 per page for additional copies.

Resumes

Mini-workshops are held to assist individuals to compose their resume.  Clients may then type their own resume on computer.  Mini workshops are held on various other topics throughout the month.

Newspapers & Directories

Daily newspapers are available at the Career and Information Centre (Resource Centre) as well as Industrial Directories.  This material is for reference only and cannot be removed from the Resource Centre.  Or find a Newspaper online:

Additional Literature

Handouts on cover letters, resumes, self-assessment and interview essentials are also available to clients.  There is also information on additional community resources, training opportunities and other job related general topics.

Employment Related Message Service

For clients without a phone or answering machine.
