Individual Planning & Coordination
Clients will meet with a counselor to develop a plan and determine which employment services are most appropriate for them. Referrals to programs, ongoing support and follow-up is provided throughout the process.

Career Exploration: Planning for Change
This is a one-week program for individuals who don’t have a clear job objective. During the week, you will be looking at values, interests and personality types using various techniques and tools including:
- Self-assessment
- Research
- Decision-making
- Creating an Action Plan
Winning Interview Techniques
Participants will join a one-week group that will provide them with all the information and practice they need to
succeed at an interview:
- Interview preparation
- Behavioural interviews
- Mock interviews
Refining Your Marketing Tools
One-week group workshop with individual assistance covers:
- Resumes
- Cover letters
- Reference letters
- Business cards
- Thank you notes
- Employment proposals and portfolios
- Access to computer lab
Participants need a job objective and some knowledge of computers.
Networking for Success
One-week group workshop, which covers the following topics:
- Learning what networking is
- Building networking skills
- Developing business cards, elevator speech, phone script
- Becoming familiar with online and other resources
- Warming up to cold calls
Participants in this workshop need to have a clear job objective and an open mind to change.
Your Rights and Responsibilities
This two-day workshop is filled with vital information regarding Health & Safety and Human Rights.
Specific topics include an overview of:
- The Employment Standards Act
- Ontario Human Rights Code
- Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Workplace Violence and Harassment (Bill 168)
- Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA)
Word Processing
This one-day workshop will teach the very basics in word processing:
- Desktop features
- Keyboard layout
- Microsoft Word and Windows
- File management - Opening, saving and re-naming
- Formatting - Bold, underline, italics, etc.
- Work on a sample resume
Email & Internet Navigation
This is a one-day, basic computer-training workshop, which will enable participants to:
- Set up an email account
- Learn email basics
- Learn about attachments in an email
- Do online applications
- Text resumes
- Begin Internet job searching
Social Media
This one-day workshop is designed for individuals who are intermediate computer users and who have a resume and email account. Topics include:
- Understanding the function of Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter in your job search and career development
- Setting up a Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter account
- Joining a LinkedIn group
- Introduction to several different blogs
- Using the applications and learning to navigate the online
- world of digital communications
